Built to Last was founded by Elijah Placencia and Athan Garcia — two 21-year-old athletes, coaches, and creators on a mission to build something different in the fitness space.
We’re not selling shortcuts. We’re not selling motivation. We’re selling the systems we actually use — to train, to eat, to stay disciplined, and to build bodies and minds that hold up under pressure.
How We Got Here
Neither of us started with perfect genetics or a perfect plan.
Like most people, we figured it out the hard way — inconsistent eating, no real structure, chasing results without a system. We tried the programs everyone tries. We followed the influencers everyone follows. And we hit the same plateaus everyone hits.
Over time, we realized the same truth — separately, before we ever started building this together:
Most programs don’t fail because people are lazy. They fail because they’re built on shortcuts instead of principles. The problem isn’t effort — it’s direction.

Elijah Placencia
I stopped chasing trends and committed to training with intent — progressive overload, real recovery, and consistency that didn’t depend on motivation. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just real work, done repeatedly.
That’s how I built a 315 lb paused bench press. It’s how I’m chasing 405 on the bench and 600 on the deadlift. And it’s how the clients I coach build the kind of strength and physique that actually lasts.
But more than the numbers — it built discipline. The kind that carries over into every part of life.
Athan Garcia
I didn’t start in the best position. Inconsistency, figuring out nutrition on my own, no clear system to follow. I wasn’t always lean, structured, or locked in. There were times it felt like I was putting in effort without getting the results I wanted.
But over time I learned: the problem isn’t effort, it’s direction.
Once I stopped chasing random advice and started focusing on what actually works, everything changed. I built structure into my routine. I focused on consistency over perfection. I learned how to manage my diet, train with intent, and stay disciplined even when motivation wasn’t there.
That’s what transformed not just how I look — but how I operate every day.

Between us, we’ve spent the last 5 years training — ourselves, and the clients we coach.
